Conveyancing / Solicitors
Why do I need a Conveyancer or Solicitor?
A conveyancer or solicitor is required by law to handle the legal side of the buying, selling or remortgaging process. They will liaise with the other party’s conveyancer or solicitor and your lender (or just your lender in the case of remortgaging) to ensure that all legal aspects are in order. Usually the same firm will act for you and your lender (which will help keep costs down). The amount charged by each firm can vary, as can the service standards. You can now find specialist low cost conveyancers online, please see below.
When you are remortgaging, some lenders will pay for the cost of your solicitors (subject to the lender’s terms and conditions) or they may contribute towards the cost of your own appointed solicitors.
